Craftsman garage door openers

The Craftsman garage door opener is actually manufactured by the Chamberlain company – the top rated manufacturer of garage door openers and accessories in the world. Craftsman brands are marketed and sold exclusively by Sears, so if this is the brand you want, you need to contact your nearest Sears location. There has been a problem with some of these garage door openers that were not installed by professional installers, especially in Puerto Rico. If they are not installed correctly, the safety reversal feature on these devices may not function properly. 

They have actually recalled some of the models to test them for defects, but this applies to the swing and slide models only. There has not been a recall of the overhead garage door openers. If the door openers are installed correctly, the safety reversal on the opener will automatically stop the door from closing and open it up completely. There are wither infra-red beams that detect an obstruction in its path or eyes installed on each side of the door that sense when there is something in the way. To check to see if your garage door opener's safety feature is working properly, you should place a block of wood on the ground directly under the door. If the door does not automatically stop and reverse within two seconds of touching the wood, you need to have the system checked out. 

All types of garage door openers are available in the Craftsman brand name. Whether you prefer the cheaper chain drive, the popular screw drive or the more expensive belt drive openers, you can get the one you want. Some models come only in ½ hp motor but there are some models numbers that have the heavier ¾ hp motors.
